Job summary

Svitzer Australia in Fremantle is seeking a Tug Engineer to keep our vessels running safely and reliably. Reporting to the Tug Master, you will maintain onboard machinery, support towage operations and uphold safety standards across the fleet.

You will bring an Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal certificate, AMSA medical, and First Aid/CPR qualifications, with a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement in a dynamic port environment.

Qualifications

  • Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal certificate or equivalent.
  • AMS A Medical and First Aid/ CPR certificates.
  • Strong knowledge of marine engines, propulsion and deck equipment.
  • Experience in towage operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to stay calm and adapt to changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain onboard machinery, including engine and deck equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of marine systems and equipment.
  • Support safe winch operation during towage jobs.
  • Prepare maintenance records and operational reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist on deck when needed to support crew and vessel operations.
  • Participate in drills, training and skills development.
