Job summary

Svitzer Australia, based on the West Coast, is seeking a Tug Master to support Fremantle marine operations and drive safe, compliant towage services. You will deliver Master training across locations and mentor operators to enhance competencies.

You will develop and run simulation-based courses, review incidents, and provide marine expertise during client and port interactions. A Master 45m Near Coastal COE and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Tug Master operating omnidirectional tugs.
  • Minimum Master 45m Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to collect and analyse data, identify trends and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • Proven computer literacy with competency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Provide marine expertise and support for the Svitzer Australia operating region (West Coast).
  • Delivery of Master’s training in specific locations, coordinating with Port teams.
  • Provide dedicated training and mentoring for operators to achieve competencies.
  • Develop, conduct and evaluate simulation-based courses for life-like scenarios.
  • Review on-water marine incidents and contribute to Marine Standards investigations.
  • Provide operational marine expertise when engaging with clients and port authorities.
