Job summary

InfraBuild Recycling Hemmant site is seeking a hands-on operator to join a safety-focused team. You will perform scrap metal and e-waste collections, load and unload from trucks, and work with overhead cranes in a yard environment.

Hours are 6 am to 2 pm with overtime; pay rate is $40.51 per hour plus super. This is permanent, full-time with a strong safety culture and opportunities for career development within Australia’s circular steel system.

Qualifications

• Open HR licence is essential.
• Road ranger experience is desirable.
• Forklift licence or willingness to obtain is desirable.
• Dogging ticket is desirable.
• Experience with scrap recycling or construction is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Pick up scrap metal bins.
• Deliver to customers and back to the yard.
• Operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with Transport Allocator to complete deliveries.
• Load the truck using overhead cranes.
• Adhere to Australian heavy-vehicle rules and WHS regulations.

About the role

Join a 2026 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work Gold Winner and 2026 Sustainability Champion recognised by the World Steel Association. Play a key role in shaping our performance across our InfraBuild Recycling business.

Based at our InfraBuild Recycling Hemmant site, you will be completing scrap metal and e-waste collections, as well as working alongside the staff in the yard. The team is highly safety focused, and process driven and will ensure that you are supported.

What you will be doing:

• Pick up scrap metal bins
• Deliver to customers and back to the yard
• Operate heavy vehicles in a safe and efficient manner

• Collaborate with the Transport Allocator to complete deliveries across the region
• Loading the truck using overhead cranes
• Adhere to Australian rules and regulations regarding the operation of heavy vehicles
• Adhere to all WHS and Heavy Vehicle Transport regulations, policies and procedures

The working hours are between 6 am – 2 pm + regular overtime on weekdays.

Pay rate for this role is $40.51 per hour + super

What you will bring:

• Open HR truck licence is essential
• Road ranger experience, desirable
• Dogging ticket and Forklift Licence, desirable (or willing to obtain)
• Excellent communication skills and a team player
• High energy, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn
• Scrap recycling, Manufacturing, or Construction industry experience ideally
• Maintaining cleanliness in the yard and operational areas
