Job summary

Marist180 is seeking passionate Youth Workers to join our Therapeutic Care Home (TCH) and Immediate Transition Model (ITM) programs. You will provide trauma-informed, therapeutic support to children and young people aged 0–18, helping with wellbeing, daily living skills, education and community participation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement individual care plans and promote positive outcomes through relationship-based practice.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect or significant adversity.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care principles.
• Ability to build and maintain therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
• Experience supporting children and young people with complex behaviours and support needs.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice.
• Sound written communication and record keeping skills.
• Understanding of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities.
• Actively contribute to a child-safe organisation by championing the safety, wellbeing, rights and voices of children and young people; recognising and reporting child-safety concerns; and contributing to an open, accountable and learning culture where concerns, incidents and feedback are used to strengthen practice and prevent harm.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic, trauma-informed support to children and young people aged 0–18 years who have experienced adversity.
• Support wellbeing, emotional development, daily living skills, education and community participation; build positive relationships.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to individual care plans.
• Support young people to achieve positive outcomes through relationship-based practice.
• Role may span ITM and TCH programmes depending on operational requirements.
• This role operates on a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, sleepovers and active overnight shifts.
