Job summary

MacKillop Family Services in New South Wales is seeking Youth Workers to support young people in our Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) program across Nowra, Wollongong, Calderwood, Punchbowl, Grafton and the Hunter region. These roles are permanent, part-time and casual, offering flexible hours and a meaningful pathway in residential and community settings.

You will mentor and model positive behaviours, support life skills, collaborate with a team to tailor services, and safeguard wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Services or Youth Work; Cert IV in Youth Work minimum.
• Experience in Disability Support Work.
• Experience in youth services or residential care.
• Cultural competency with Aboriginal communities.
• Trauma-informed approach to working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and engage young people, guiding life skills and growth.
• Model positive behaviours, emotional intelligence and social responsibility.
• Encourage active participation in decisions affecting their lives.
• Provide hands-on support with daily tasks (meals, shopping, housework).
• Collaborate with a team to tailor services to each young person’s needs.
• Safeguard wellbeing by reporting concerns.
