Noosa Council is seeking a Transport Officer to help shape the future of transport for Noosa Shire. The role focuses on investigating transport issues, analysing network performance and contributing to planning initiatives that support safer, sustainable communities.

The successful candidate will have background in transport planning or related engineering fields, plus strong data skills and the ability to communicate with stakeholders to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice and prepare reports, briefings and correspondence on transport and traffic matters.
• Assess transport impacts associated with developments, infrastructure projects, events and heavy vehicle access requests.

• $101,787 base annual salary
• $115,537 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You're a transport planning, traffic management or engineering professional who enjoys solving complex problems and using data to inform decision-making. With strong analytical and communication skills, you can engage effectively with stakeholders, develop practical solutions and contribute to projects that improve transport outcomes for the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake transport planning investigations and analysis to support road safety, network performance and sustainable transport outcomes
• Analyse transport data, community feedback and network issues to develop evidence-based recommendations
• Provide professional advice and prepare reports, briefings and correspondence on transport and traffic matters
• Assess transport impacts associated with developments, infrastructure projects, events and heavy vehicle access requests

Skills and Experience

• Experience in transport planning, traffic management or transport network analysis
• Sound understanding of transport planning principles, transport standards and road safety considerations
• Ability to analyse data, identify issues and develop practical planning recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with limited supervision
• Experience using Microsoft Office and transport-related analysis, modelling or design software

Qualifications

• Degree or Associate Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Transport Planning, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Current C Class driver licence
• Traffic Management Design qualifications or training (desirable)
• Eligibility for, or progress towards, professional accreditation such as RPEQ (desirable)
