Job summary

Service Stream is expanding its Defence division and seeks a Training Area Range caretaker for permanent full-time duties at Bathurst Island, NT. You will oversee TAR facility safety, readiness, and operation, with on-call minor works and liaison activities with Defence.

The ideal candidate has prior security or facility management experience, relevant certifications, a current driver’s license, and Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role, or in security or facility management.
• First aid certification is preferred.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 24/7 presence or act as point of contact for TAR facility.
• Provide general oversight and security of TAR 24/7.
• Be available on-call to perform minor corrective works.
• Plan and deliver presentations to Defence and record outcomes.
• Perform range inspections after each use to check for damage, vandalism or theft.
• Ensure facilities are safe, operational and ready for the next user.

About the role

You will provide continuous oversight and security of the TAR facility, ensuring its safety, operational readiness, and integrity at all times.

This includes conducting thorough inspections, performing minor corrective works on an on-call basis, and maintaining effective communication with Defence through presentations and recorded outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining a 24/7 presence and/or being the point of contact (POC).
• Providing general oversight and security of TAR 24/7.
• Being available on an on-call basis to perform minor corrective works.
• Planning and delivering presentations to Defence and recording outcomes.
• Performing range inspections after every use to check for damage, vandalism or theft.
• Ensuring that the facilities are safe, operational and ready for the next user.

About you

• Our ideal candidate will have: Experience in a similar role, or in security or facility management, with exposure to emergency response and minor repair works.
• Experience within the Defence sector would be highly regarded.
• Relevant certifications in facility management or security would be highly regarded.
• First aid certification (preferred).
• Valid driver's licence.
• You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
