Job summary

Service Stream in Darwin is seeking Casual Grounds Maintenance Operators to support Defence construction and infrastructure projects. The roles involve operating plant equipment, performing manual labour, and assisting tradespeople on-site at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct.

We welcome applicants with White Card and First Aid, able to work outdoors in all weather, and committed to safety and efficient site operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate landscaping equipment (mowers, blowers, etc.) and perform manual labour.
• Capable of lifting, digging, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clear land for construction, agriculture, or infrastructure projects.
• Operate plant and construction machinery safely and efficiently.
• Load, transport, and handle materials and equipment.
• Perform manual labour including digging, lifting and trenching.
• Support tradespeople and crews with site tasks.
• Conduct equipment checks and report faults or hazards.
• Identify utility lines and manage soil conditions.
• Set up and clean work areas to maintain site safety.
• Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to a safe work culture.

We are hiring multiple Casual Grounds Maintenance Operators to support this contract. These are permanent full-time roles based at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct.

About the Role

You will be responsible for performing a wide range of manual and machinery-assisted tasks in physically demanding outdoor environments. This role supports the efficient and safe execution of construction, agricultural, and infrastructure projects by operating plant equipment, performing general labouring duties, and assisting tradespeople and site teams. We also have positions available that are focused on land management duties such as weeding, spraying and mowing.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Ability to safely operate mowers, blowers, compactors, and other landscaping equipment.
• Capable of lifting, digging, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Assisting with fencing, paving, retaining walls, and irrigation systems.
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively on-site.
• Punctual, dependable, and able to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Relevant licences, white card and first aid requirements are highly regarded.
