Job summary

The NT Department of Corrections is recruiting for Trainee Correctional Officer roles across multiple locations in the Northern Territory. The program includes eight weeks of off-the-job training, followed by three weeks on‑the‑job training, delivering skills to support safety and security in correctional centres and for staff, visitors and prisoners.

After training, a remuneration package up to $108,308 with salary progression, allowances and a strong focus on ongoing employment opportunities

Qualifications

• Good communication and organisational skills required.
• Strong fitness level and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
• Holds or can obtain a First Aid Certificate and a valid manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, monitor and manage prisoners and ensure safety.
• Perform escorts and respond to emergencies within facilities.
• Maintain security measures and support reintegration efforts for prisoners.
