ACT Corrective Services invites applications for a Trainee Correctional Officer, who after successful training becomes a Correctional Officer Grade 1. The role is full-time permanent within the Court Transport Unit, requiring teamwork, resilience, and strong communication under challenging conditions.

Qualifications

• Custodial experience or Certificate III in Correctional Practice is essential.
• Current unrestricted Driver’s licence Class C is essential.
• Senior First Aid Certificate is essential (to be obtained during CRT).
• Pre-employment testing: Psychological testing, LLN, medical and functional/fitness tests.
• WWVP registration required prior to commencing. National Police Check required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Court Transport Unit (CTU) within ACT Corrective Services.
• Undertake eight-hour shifts Monday to Friday at the ACT Courts, with rostered duties at AMC.
• Complete a 12-week Correctional Recruit Training (CRT) with a training salary.
• Upon successful CRT, automatically become a Correctional Officer Grade 1 and progress to higher duties and pay.
