Job summary

Coates Dubbo is seeking a Trades Assistant (Equipment Maintenance Controllers) to back our workshop and yard teams with cleaning, inspection and minor repairs on equipment. You will assist mechanics and electricians, helping them focus on repairs, while also ensuring inbound and outbound gear is tracked and handled safely.

The role supports keeping the workshop and service area tidy and secure. A forklift high-risk licence is valued, a valid driver's licence is essential, and basic computer

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's licence.
• Forklift high-risk licence preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Physically fit and safety‑conscious.
• Mechanical equipment knowledge desirable.
• Familiar with Take 5s and JSEAs.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and inspection of equipment, including minor repairs and test instrument use.
• Support workshop mechanics/electricians to enable focus on repairs.
• Check and control equipment inbound/outbound with yard spotting.
• Assist to keep workshop, yard and service area clean and safe.

As a Coates Trades Assistant (Internally known as Equipment Maintenance Controllers) at our Dubbo branch, you will be responsible for:

• Cleaning and inspection tasks of equipment including some minor repairs and adjustments and the use of test instruments.
• Supporting role to the workshop mechanics/electricians to enable them to focus on equipment repairs and more complex tasks.
• Check and control equipment (inbound and outbound) as it comes in and out of the yard inclusive of the spotting function.
• Assist in keeping workshop, yard and service area clean, tidy and safe.

What you'll bring to the role

This role is perfect if you are mechanically minded and enjoy fixing equipment:

• Current drivers license is essential (forklift high risk license will be highly regarded)
