Job summary

Motion Asia Pacific Pty is seeking a motivated Trade Assistant to join their hydraulics workshop in Melbourne. You will support modification, assembly, testing and repair of hydraulic components and power units, with on-the-job training to progress toward Hydraulic Technician.

This role suits someone with practical mechanical aptitude who learns quickly, works safely with basic hand and power tools, and enjoys being part of a hands-on team in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Previous Trade Assistant, mechanical workshop, automotive, plant or similar hands-on experience is desirable
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hydraulic systems
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely
• A strong focus on accuracy, quality and safety
• Reliable, proactive and able to work well as part of a team
• Valid driver's licence preferred
• Experience with fixed or mobile plant, mining equipment, or low-voltage electrical work will be an advantage, but is not essential

Responsibilities

• Assist with workshop modification, reworking and testing of hydraulic components
• Support the assembly and testing of hydraulic power units
• Assist with disassembly, inspection and reporting of equipment
• Prepare, clean and organise workshop equipment, tools and components
• Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workshop environment
• Assist with onsite hydraulic support for local customers as required
• Follow all safety, quality and customer-service procedures

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Trade Assistant to join our workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical mechanical aptitude who is keen to build a long-term career in hydraulics.

You will work alongside experienced Hydraulic Technicians, supporting the modification, assembly, repair and testing of hydraulic components and power units. Full on-the-job training will be provided, with the opportunity to develop into a Hydraulic Technician over time.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Assist with workshop modification, reworking and testing of hydraulic components
