Job summary

Thredbo Alpine Village is seeking a Planning Coordinator to drive the development application process and coordinate planning activities across internal teams, external consultancies, and government agencies. You will support the Property Manager in implementing planning strategies and ensure safe, efficient operations within the KT division.

The role requires NSW planning knowledge, strong communication, and project management skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in planning, environmental management or other relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NSW land use planning, environmental assessment and environmental regulation.
  • Experience in preparing and prosecuting planning applications.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Sound GIS, MS Word and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop systems and procedures to initiate, prepare, track and complete Development Applications lodged by Kosciuszko Thredbo (KT).
  • Coordinate across internal units, external consultancies and government agencies for DA submissions and related plans.
  • Manage project deliverables and budgets to meet timelines.
  • Initiate and manage work by external contractors and consultants.
  • Provide planning advice to internal units on NSW planning policies and KT development plans.
  • Oversee KT’s Development Application processes to ensure timely approvals.

Thredbo Alpine Village - Thredbo Village NSW

Kosciuszko Thredbo (KT) operates Thredbo Alpine Resort within Kosciuszko National Park under a Head Lease agreement with National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) (Lessor). The resort offers a range of tourist and visitor accommodation, food & beverage outlets, retail shops and more through sub-lease arrangements.

As the Planning Coordinator you will liaise across multiple internal departments, the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and other governmental referral agencies. Working with the Property Manager, you are to facilitate the effective and safe operation of the Property Department and foster interdepartmental cooperation to enhance operations. Working within your team, you are to provide leadership and guidance to all and work with other supervisors to implement strategies for increasing safety, work satisfaction and productivity.

About the role
  • The position is responsible for developing systems and procedures to initiate, prepare, track and complete all development applications lodged by Kosciuszko Thredbo (KT)
  • Co-ordinate across internal business units, external consultancies and relevant government agencies the preparation of Development Applications, planning studies and related plans, reports or documents to ensure KT complies with the development assessment and approvals requirements of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
  • Project management ensuring deliverables and budgets are met in a timely manner
  • Initiate and manage work performed by external contractors and consultants
  • Provision of practical and analytical planning advice to internal business units on policies and practices related to NSW planning and KT’s development plans
  • Manage KT’s Development Application processes to ensure timely approval
  • Assessment of sub-lessee development proposals to ensure compliance with KT’s Development Guidelines prior to lodgement of Development Application
Skills & Experience
  • Specialist skills within their current role or area of work
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong customer service knowledge
  • Degree in planning, environmental management or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the New South Wales legislation, policies and processes governing land use planning, environmental assessment and environmental regulation
  • Experience in preparing and prosecuting planning applications
  • Strong technical written skills
  • Sound skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft word and excel.
