Job summary

Lifestyle Solutions in Maitland and Newcastle is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Worker to support children and young people in care. You’ll help them feel safe, build trust, and believe in their futures through calm, compassionate care and structured daily routines.

You will provide active support, health support, behaviour support, safeguarding, and work within a supportive team. A Diploma pathway is available; weekend and overnight availability is required. Salary packaging and meals card offered.

Qualifications

• Willingness to enrol in a Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Education or Mental Health.
• Experience supporting children/young people with complex needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Empathy, resilience and a solutions-focused mindset.
• Unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Active support: meal prep, dressing, transport, social outings and daily goals.
• Health support: administer and document medications and health plans.
• Positive behaviour support: identify and manage triggers and escalations.
• Safeguarding: ensure safety and complete documentation/reports.

About you:

• Relevant qualifications or willingness to enrol in a Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Education, Mental Healthr related field
• Experience supporting children and/or young people with complex needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Empathy, resilience, and a solutions-focused mindset
• Unrestricted driver’s license
• Regular availability across a range of shifts, including weekends and overnights

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or challenging life circumstances, creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments to help them develop emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.

• Health support: administer and document medication and follow health support plans
• Positive behaviour support: manage behaviours, triggers and escalations
• Safeguarding: ensure safety of you and the young person, documentation and reports
