The role focuses on leading technical teams, optimizing service delivery, and ensuring alignment with industry standards while reporting to the Australian CEO on site.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of mining experience, a geology or mining engineering degree, strong English, and hands-on expertise in mine planning, safety, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in geology or mining engineering.
• Minimum 15 years in operating mines.
• Expat experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical teams to ensure service delivery and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement technical strategies and procedures to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Monitor KPIs and technical performance to identify improvements.
• Supervise maintenance schedules, equipment management and asset utilisation.
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to meet technical requirements.

About the role

An excellent Expat position, based in East Asia, (Privately owned) are seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to work with a great team on a rapidly growing resource .

This is a full-time position on a 5&3 roster from any major city or residential (low Tax)

The Technical Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing technical teams, optimising service delivery, and ensuring that all technical operations align with company objectives and industry standards. This role reports directly to the CEO in Australia who also spends a lot of time on site.

Transition over next 3 years to open pit with Flotation/Cyanidation for gold & copper, and some underground mining from Yr 8.

What you'll be doing

• Oversee and manage technical teams to ensure effective service delivery and operational excellence across all technical divisions
• Develop and implement technical strategies and operational procedures that enhance service quality and efficiency
• Monitor technical performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement
• Supervise maintenance schedules, equipment management and asset utilisation to maximise operational uptime
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to understand technical requirements and deliver tailored solutions
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies across all technical operations
• Manage budgets for technical services, including resource allocation and cost optimisation
• Lead training and professional development programmes for technical staff to enhance skills and competencies
• Prepare reports and communicate technical findings to senior management and clients
• Implement new technologies and systems to improve technical service delivery and operational efficiency

What we're looking for

• Minimum Batchelor degree in Geology or Mining Engineering
• Previous Expat experience preferred
• Committed employee required, who stays connected even when on rostered break.
• Minimum 15 years industry experience in operating mines
• Gold or copper mining background preferred, coal not preferred.
• Strong English language ability.
• Strong leadership, written and verbal skills.
• Technical skills – candidate needs to be hands on, not just a manager of people. Needs to be proficient in Deswick.
• Mine planning, safety and operations planning are highest priorities.
• Team-building with a workforce whose first language is not English is an important part of this role.
