Globe 24-7 are partnering with a mining technology and technical services provider to recruit a Technical Operations Manager in Perth, Western Australia. This newly created position will strengthen operational accountability across sales and technical delivery as our client grows. The opportunity combines commercial responsibility, senior client engagement and the ability to establish operating practices that support an expanding business.

The Role

The Technical Operations Manager will establish performance measures, improve commercial outcomes and reduce day-to-day operational pressure on the existing leadership team. The successful candidate will connect client commitments with delivery capacity, introduce clear accountability and coordinate priorities with software development leadership, without responsibility for overseeing software development.

The Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily coordination across delivery to ensure client commitments are properly scoped, achievable and met.
  • Establish KPIs for delivery, utilisation, quality, client outcomes and profitability, with clear ownership, reporting rhythms and corrective actions.
  • Review delivery performance, capacity and priorities with functional leaders, escalating risks to timelines, service quality, client satisfaction and margins.
  • Strengthen budgeting, forecasting and financial reviews, using P&L results and margin analysis to guide decisions.
  • Embed disciplined pricing, statements of work, scope management and change control across sales and technical teams.
  • Maintain senior mining-client relationships through regular engagement, delivery issue resolution and technical and commercial discussions.
  • Develop operating rhythms, management information and accountability practices that support workforce growth.
  • Coach managers and team members, establish performance expectations and reinforce cooperation between client-facing and technical functions.
  • Coordinate resources, priorities and information flow across Australian and international offices and with software development leadership.
  • Improve resource planning, workflows, project handovers and management reporting to address delivery bottlenecks.
  • Ensure operational practices meet applicable Western Australian work health and safety obligations, client requirements and relevant professional standards.
  • Provide concise leadership reporting on operational performance, financial results, significant client matters, emerging risks and decisions requiring escalation.
The Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • A degree in mining engineering, geology or another relevant technical discipline is preferred.
  • Postgraduate study or professional development in business management, finance or commercial leadership is advantageous.
  • Eligibility for membership of an appropriate Australian professional body is viewed favourably where relevant to the candidate’s discipline.
  • Substantial senior operational or commercial experience in mining or related technical services, typically around 10 years, including several years in leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and improving performance across technical delivery and client-facing functions.
  • Previous accountability for budgets, P&L performance, forecasting and operational KPIs.
  • Experience engaging mining clients and senior stakeholders on technical, delivery and commercial matters.
  • Experience coordinating teams or operations across multiple offices or jurisdictions is advantageous.
Skills & Personal Attributes
  • Understanding of mining-sector technical services and the commercial expectations of mining clients.
  • Ability to translate performance data into clear priorities, decisions and accountable actions.
  • Knowledge of pricing discipline, statements of work, scope management and change control.
  • Sound judgement when balancing delivery, commercial, safety and reputational risks.
  • Practical, hands-on problem-solving and a structured approach to improving processes.
  • Ability to align operational priorities with software development while respecting separate functional accountability.
The Rewards
  • Base salary plus superannuation.
  • Profit share.
