Kinexus is partnering with a leading Defence engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Technical Project Manager to oversee the delivery of complex engineering projects and systems.

This role manages projects from design and development through to production, testing and final customer acceptance, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery to required technical standards.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally Electronics, Electrical, Systems, Software or related.
  • Experience in Project Management within engineering or technical product development.
  • Experience delivering complex engineering systems to customers.
  • Budget management, cost forecasting and schedule management experience.
  • Experience with hardware-software integrated projects and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects with hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Own project execution; ensure milestones meet time and budget targets.
  • Monitor expenditure, risks and delivery progress.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to meet customer and contractual needs.
  • Manage customer relationships and acceptance of delivered systems.
  • Identify risks and commercial constraints; support quotations and improvement initiatives.

Technical Project Manager - Defence Engineering

Kinexus is partnering with a leading Defence engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Technical Project Manager to oversee the delivery of complex engineering projects and systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with a strong engineering background who has experience managing the execution and delivery of technical systems to customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from design and development through to production, testing and final customer acceptance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required technical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of complex engineering projects involving hardware and software systems.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts and deliverables.
  • Take ownership of project execution, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project expenditure, financial performance, risks and delivery progress.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, subcontractors and external suppliers.
  • Work closely with technical leads to ensure engineering solutions meet customer and contractual requirements.
  • Manage customer relationships, expectations and the successful acceptance of delivered systems.
  • Identify and manage project risks, technical challenges and commercial constraints.
  • Support project quotations, bids and continuous improvement initiatives.
ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally Electronics, Electrical, Systems, Software or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Project Management, preferably within engineering or technical product development environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering systems or products to customers.
  • Strong background in project execution, budget management, cost forecasting and schedule management.
  • Experience managing engineering projects involving integrated hardware and software systems.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a track record of delivering projects against agreed budgets and milestones.
  • Experience within Defence, aerospace, electronics, communications or other highly regulated engineering industries will be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies, Earned Value Management and tools such as MS Project, Jira or Confluence.
  • Must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance to NV1 level.
