Job summary

Kinexus is seeking a Field Service Technician/Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electronic systems on Defence maritime platforms. You’ll support field operations and contribute to reliability and readiness of next-gen ships.

You’ll work in a hands-on environment, collaborating with engineering and operations teams to deliver mission-ready capability while continually improving system performance. Experience in Defence sectors highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electronic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Capable of working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

You'll be part of a highly capable engineering team, providing technical support in a hands-on environment where no two days are the same.

The Opportunity

As a Field Service Technician / Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electronic systems while supporting field operations and engineering activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring critical Defence capability remains operational, while also contributing to ongoing product and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced fault finding and root cause analysis across mechanical and electronic systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on Defence maritime platforms and associated equipment.
• Diagnose technical issues using a range of electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support complex troubleshooting activities.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
• Support field operations, testing, commissioning and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable, mission-ready capability.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be a practical engineer who enjoys getting hands-on and solving challenging technical problems.

You'll ideally bring:

• Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronic systems.
• Strong fault-finding skills using electronic test equipment and diagnostic equipment.
• The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience improving the reliability and maintainability of operational equipment.
• Hands-on experience building, maintaining or repairing mechanical and electronic systems.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience within Defence, maritime, naval, aerospace, industrial automation, mining, heavy industry or other high-reliability engineering environments will be highly regarded.
