Job summary

Telstra Software Engineering’s Quality Engineering CoE seeks a Product Owner to drive the product vision and roadmap, delivering innovative solutions for internal customers. You will understand the problem space and make clear prioritisation decisions to guide the team.

You will work with Product Management and Engineering to set goals, define roadmaps, and track performance metrics, enabling high-quality, scalable software in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Contribute to QECoE engineering standards and frameworks.
• Ability to lead or facilitate discussions on application design.
• Good to have experience leading Cloud hosted (AWS) applications
• Awareness of cloud computing.
• Ability to contribute to discussions around new standards and revisions to existing ones.
• Ability to communicate complex solutions clearly
• Experience in tracking engineering performance and operational health metrics.
• Expertise in microservices or distributed systems architecture.
• Experience in leading discussions and implementation for scaling products.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Product Management and Engineering leads to set priorities for delivery based on vision and product objectives.
• Define a product backlog that guides the delivery team on problems to solve and why.
• Keep the backlog updated and prioritized, with estimation as needed.
• Collaborate to define the product roadmap, goals, and timeframes.
• Discuss impacts with management and align on needs and targets.
• Communicate roadmap implications and help mitigate with Product Management.
• Produce and monitor data to track delivery achievements and concerns.
• Collaborate with development team on customer interactions to identify usability gaps.
• Foster ongoing product discovery with customers and the team through short cycles of experiments.
• Identify and remove impediments to protect the team from disruption.
• Ensure collaboration practices are followed and evolved with team needs.
• Foster collective ownership and accountability for team work.
• Provide input to wider team on capability, growth and learning.
• Coordinate with external teams to unblock dependencies.
