Job summary

Code Camp in Newcastle is seeking casual facilitators to run after-school coding and Minecraft sessions for kids aged 5–12. You’ll deliver our simple lesson plans to a small class and support students in building confidence with tech and teamwork.

Ideal candidates are reliable, speak clearly to groups, have First Aid/ CPR knowledge, NSW Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain, and are comfortable in a teaching setting.

Qualifications

• NSW Working With Children Check required or willing to obtain immediately.
• Prior experience with children aged 5–12 essential.
• First Aid + CPR highly regarded.
• Tech-savvy with an interest in science, tech and creativity.
• Mature, reliable and able to supervise children.
• Excellent customer service when speaking with school staff or parents.
• Fluent conversational English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver our lesson plans to a small class of primary-aged children.
• Lead and facilitate classes with confidence and clear communication.
• Provide ongoing support from our online tech-support team during activities.

Looking for a fun and flexible casual job that will work around your schedule? Code Camp is Australia's leading provider of school holiday and after-school tech programs, and we're currently hiring facilitators/educators!

This role is ideal for uni students, for example, studying Education, Software Engineering, Video Game Development, etc. looking for hands-on experience working with kids while building confidence and skills in tech and leadership.

Is this you?:

Experienced and interested in working with kids aged 5 - 12

Between 2-5 afternoons of weekday availability

Able to work approximately 3pm - 5pm over 8 weeks (more opportunities available for the right staff member!)

Someone who feels confident speaking in front of a group, is enthusiastic and a good problem solver

Trustworthy, independent, punctual and reliable

About the position:

Our various Newcastle locations run Monday + Thursday afternoons in Term 4

You will be provided our fun easy-to-follow lesson plan to deliver to a small class of primary-aged children

Paid training provided as well as constant support from a our online tech-support team

Staff are required to supply their own Laptop and HDMI adapter for personal use

Required Skills/Certifications:

While we don't require a specific degree, you should have some or all of the following:

Valid NSW Employee Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain immediately)

Prior experience working with or being around young kids (aged 5 - 12) is essential as this role involves leading and facilitating a class

First Aid + CPR Highly Regarded

Tech-savvy with an interest in science, tech and creativity

Mature outlook, common sense and the ability to supervise children
