Tax Accountant for Mandarin-Speaking Clients

Job summary

NorthStone Talent Partners in Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to manage a portfolio of individual, business and investment clients, with a strong focus on Chinese-speaking clients. You will prepare and review tax returns, financial statements and provide practical tax advice in both Mandarin and English.

The role requires 2+ years in Australian public practice tax or accounting, and fluency in Mandarin and English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified, or currently working towards completion.
• 2+ years' experience in an Australian public practice tax or accounting role.
• Sound knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and ATO compliance requirements.
• Fluency in Mandarin and English, as the role involves working directly with Chinese-speaking clients.
• Experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero, MYOB, HandiTax or Class.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• A client-focused approach with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Prepare annual financial statements and workpapers in line with Australian accounting standards.
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT and other ATO compliance obligations within required timeframes.
• Advise clients on tax planning, business structuring, CGT, Division 7A and residency-related tax matters.
• Support clients with foreign income, overseas investments and Australian property-related tax considerations.
• Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients, including responding to queries and reviews.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, communicating complex tax matters clearly in Mandarin and English.
• Work closely with senior accountants and partners on advisory projects and support the development of junior team members.
