PTB Management Pty Ltd is expanding its Sydney team. We seek a motivated Accountant to join us full-time, preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS, and maintenance of client accounts.

You will work under the Managing Director, in a collaborative environment with exposure to diverse clients. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, at least one year of experience, strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards, and proficiency with Xero and MS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting experience.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian accounting principles and taxation.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS.
  • Proficiency with Xero and MS Office.
  • CPA or CA qualifications are valued but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements for clients.
  • Review month-end journals, accruals and transactions.
  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, trusts, companies and partnerships.
  • Prepare BAS and IAS including GST reconciliations.
  • Maintain and review fixed asset registers and CGT implications.
  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with year-end tax planning and FBT returns.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist with audits and provide accounting advice to clients.

Job description

PTB Management Pty Ltd is an established accounting firm founded in 2012. In response to global business trends, we have expanded our operations across Sydney, Singapore and Hangzhou. Our team consists of motivated and dedicated accounting professionals with diverse educational and professional backgrounds in both Australia and China.

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Sydney team on a full-time basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statements and Cash Flow Statements for clients.
  • Reviewing and checking month-end journals, accruals and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Preparing income tax returns for individuals, trusts, companies and partnerships.
  • Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), including GST reconciliations and payroll tax calculations.
  • Maintaining and reviewing clients' fixed asset registers, including depreciation calculations, asset additions, disposals and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) implications.
  • Performing monthly general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Assisting with year-end tax planning, financial reporting and preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
  • Maintaining effective internal financial control systems and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and taxation requirements.
  • Conducting financial investigations and assisting with audit-related matters as required.
  • Providing accounting and taxation advice to clients and reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher qualification in accounting or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience as an Accountant, preferably within an accounting firm.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian accounting principles, taxation regulations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, income tax returns and BAS/IAS.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • CPA or CA qualifications, or progress towards obtaining these qualifications, will be highly regarded but are not essential.
  • Competitive salary package of $75,000 – $85,000 per annum.
