Are you looking to grow your career in Human Resources while making a real impact in your local community? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a collaborative, proactive and customer-focused Talent & Onboarding Officer to join our People & Culture team on a temporary part-time basis.
In this hands‑on role, you will support high‑volume, end‑to‑end recruitment activities across Council, working closely with portfolio hiring managers, candidates and the broader Talent & Onboarding team to deliver a positive and timely recruitment experience.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has completed, or is currently studying, a Human Resources qualification, or who brings previous HR Assistant, administration or recruitment support experience and is ready to build practical capability in a supportive local government environment.
As a Talent & Onboarding Officer, you will help coordinate recruitment processes from advertising through to onboarding. You will communicate with applicants, support hiring managers, maintain recruitment records, assist with pre‑employment checks and contribute to a smooth, professional and welcoming candidate journey.
You will be joining a friendly and experienced People & Culture team where hands‑on training, guidance and support will be provided. This role offers exposure to a wide range of recruitment activities across Council and is an ideal opportunity to develop practical HR skills while contributing to meaningful work that supports services across the Mackay region.
You will be someone who enjoys working with people, communicates clearly, stays organised and brings a positive, solutions‑focused attitude to a busy team. You will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, managing confidential information professionally and supporting others to achieve great recruitment outcomes.
