Job summary

SPX Aids to Navigation is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering and Verification & Validation Manager to lead a global team across new product development, customer solutions and sustaining engineering. You will set engineering standards, drive robust requirements, architecture, integration, verification and validation throughout the lifecycle.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with international SMEs, and ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience leading Systems Engineering and Verification & Validation activities across complex product environments.
• Experience operating in regulated, certified, safety-critical or highly engineered industries.
• Proven ability to lead senior technical professionals and matrix teams across multiple sites or regions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Passion for coaching, developing and building capability in others.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team in the creation and execution of programs including requirements derivation and traceability.
• Manage and lead development of custom system solutions in response to customer requirements.
• Oversee new product introduction through the full lifecycle from requirements input to handover and ongoing maintenance.
• Identify and quantify opportunities for improvement within SPX Aids to Navigation products and lifecycle.
• Provide technical support on design changes, custom orders, or improvements to ensure product success across life cycles.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver solutions that meet specifications.
• Maintain foundational knowledge in INCOSE Systems Engineering.

About the Role

This is a global leadership role responsible for the Systems Engineering and V&V disciplines across new product development, customer solutions and sustaining engineering.

Leading a team of Systems Engineers in Australia and providing functional leadership to regional Validation and Test Engineers worldwide, you'll establish best practice, define engineering standards, and ensure products are developed with robust requirements, architecture, integration, verification and validation throughout the lifecycle.

Most importantly, you'll create an environment where engineers can do their best work, develop their capability, and contribute to delivering industry-leading solutions for our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, inspire, mentor, and develop a high performing team in the creation and execution of programs Defining user needs, requirements analysis, requirements derivation and traceability,
• Manage and lead the development of custom system solutions in response to customer requirements.
• Manage new product introduction throughout the entire product lifecycle from product management requirements input to product handover, and ongoing maintenance.
• Identifying, quantifying, documenting and realising opportunities for improvement within the SPX Aids to Navigation product range or life-cycle.
• Providing technical support and advice on design changes custom orders, or improvements to ensure product success in all stages of their life-cycles and continued integration with other products
• Collaboration in interdisciplinary development teams in order to produce a solution that meets specification.
• Have foundational knowledge in INCOSE Systems Engineering.

• A degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience leading Systems Engineering and Verification & Validation activities across complex product environments.
• Experience operating within regulated, certified, safety-critical or highly engineered industries.
• Demonstrated success leading senior technical professionals and matrix teams across multiple sites or regions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience balancing technical quality, commercial realities and delivery priorities.
• A passion for coaching, developing and building capability in others.

Highly Regarded

• INCOSE CSEP, ESEP or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Knowledge of reliability engineering, functional safety, cybersecurity or human factors.
• Experience supporting customer, quality or certification audits.
• Exposure to aviation, marine navigation, infrastructure or other safety-critical industries.
