Job description

Salary: $49.33 per hour / $97,485.70 pro rata per annum

When something isn't working, you want to know why.

An employee calls because a system process is failing. They've tried the obvious fixes. No luck. They need it sorted so they can get on with their job.

That's where you come in.

You attempt to replicate the issue. Nothing obvious shows up, so you dig deeper, query the database and work backwards until you find what's causing it. Maybe you can fix it yourself. Maybe it needs the vendor. Either way, you don't just pass the problem along. You help get it resolved and explain what happened in language that makes sense.

As our Systems Analyst, you'll become the person people turn to when they need to understand how our systems work, why something isn't working or whether there's a better way to do it.

With four client management systems, multiple integrations, regular upgrades and ongoing improvement projects, there'll be plenty to figure out.

Part problem solver. Part systems expert. Very much a people person.

You’ll work across BCH's business application portfolio, which includes finance, L&D, and other internal systems, with much of your time focused on client management systems plus the applications that connect with them. Some days you'll be deep in troubleshooting, others you'll be testing an upgrade, working with the organisation to set up for new teams or programs, working through issues with a vendor, training a new starter or improving an internal process.

You’ll:

  • investigate application, integration and data issues to find the root cause
  • administer and maintain business applications and integrations
  • use SQL to investigate issues beyond the user interface
  • Support end users with data and reporting from systems
  • plan, test and coordinate system upgrades
  • work with vendors to resolve and prioritise issues
  • train and support employees to use BCH systems confidently
  • contribute to system improvements and projects across BCH.

With significant projects, major upgrades and ongoing system improvements ahead, this isn't a portfolio that's standing still.

What makes you good at it

You're naturally curious. When something isn't working, you want to understand why. You’re willing to test things, follow the clues and try another approach when the obvious answer doesn't work.

You're also good with people. You can take something technical and explain it without making it complicated.

You may currently be a Systems Analyst, Systems Administrator, Application Support Analyst or working in a similar role. What matters is that you know your way around complex applications and enjoy figuring out how things work.

You’ll need a relevant tertiary qualification, experience working with business applications, and strong SQL and Excel skills.

Experience with healthcare or client management systems would be useful, but you don't need to already know BCH's systems.
