Job summary

Metropolitan Hydraulic Services in Smithfield, Sydney, is seeking a full-time technician to strip, repair and rebuild hydraulic components on a bench. You will work on cylinders, pumps, motors and valves, documenting findings and rebuilding to spec.

Day one requires a completed mechanical trade, diagnostic aptitude, precise measurement, and a valid driver’s licence with Australian working rights. The role offers $47–$60 per hour plus 12% super and clear progression paths to Field Service or

Qualifications

• Completed mechanical trade (fitter, diesel fitter, boilermaker, etc.)
• Ability to diagnose why something failed, not just what failed
• Comfortable measuring to tolerance
• Driver's licence
• Australian working rights (not sponsored)

Responsibilities

• Strip, clean, measure and inspect components; report findings
• Rebuild and test cylinders, pumps, motors and valves to spec
• Assemble and kit work for mine contracts; follow parts list and lead times
• Maintain accurate job records in AroFlo (hours, parts, findings)
• Manage stock usage and recording
• Keep bench and workshop tidy for client walkthroughs
• Collaborate with apprentice and trades assistant on site
