Job summary

Anglicare Australia is seeking a dedicated Support Worker - Out of Home Care to provide practical, person-centred support to children, young people, parents, carers and families using our services across regional and rural NSW.

You will work with families to build skills, strengthen parenting capacity, improve wellbeing and promote safety, stability and positive outcomes, while collaborating with managers, clinicians and local partners to deliver coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Experience providing direct support to children, young people or people with complex support needs.
• Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and child-safe practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Current unrestricted NSW driver licence and ability to travel to other locations in the region as negotiated.
• Access to a vehicle with third-party property insurance for work-related travel, where required.
• Current Working with Children Check and willingness to complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Ability to work flexible hours when required, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Your opportunity

In this flexible, hands-on role, you will provide practical and person-centred support to children, young people parents, carers and families accessing our services. You will work alongside families to build skills, strengthen parenting capacity, improve wellbeing, increase community connections and support identified case plan goals. Your role will promote safety, stability and positive outcomes for children and families.

Working across regional and rural locations as needed, you will collaborate with your manager, practice clinicians, local organisations, parishes and other Anglicare teams to deliver safe, responsive and coordinated support.

What’s required

• Demonstrated experience providing direct support to children, young people or people with complex support needs.
• Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and child-safe practice.

What’s preferred

• Experience in out-of-home care, child and family services, youth work or a regional community-services setting.
• A Cert III or above qualification in community services, youth work, child and family services or a related field.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
