Job summary

Sylvanvale in New South Wales seeks dedicated Support Workers to build meaningful relationships with clients in Katoomba and surrounding areas. The role focuses on encouraging independence, delivering person-centred care, and helping people live the lives they choose.

You will follow client plans, assist with daily activities, personal and bowel care, meal preparation, and medication administration, while promoting community access and social engagement through creative activities.

Qualifications

• Teamwork in a care/aged or disability support setting.

• Comfortable driving a vehicle capable of carrying clients.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand client plans to provide best practice support.
• Implement and work toward client goals to increase capacity.
• Provide full personal care, bowel care and hygiene.
• Perform manual handling tasks safely.
• Plan meals, cook and maintain a tidy home for clients.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Support clients to access and participate in the local community.
• Engage clients creatively to enhance daily routines.

About The Role

You will play a crucial role in providing tailored support, empowering clients to achieve their personal goals through meaningful activities both at home and within the community. Your ability to approach each situation with understanding and adaptability will make a lasting impact on the lives of those you support.

Your role will include:

• Reading and understanding client plans to provide best practice support.
• Implementing and working towards client goals to increase and improve their capacity.
• Supporting clients with full personal care, bowel care and hygiene.
• Manual handling tasks.
• Performing household tasks including menu planning, cooking, and cleaning.
• Medication Administration.
• Supporting clients to access and be a part of their local community.
• Being creative to engage clients at every part of the day and seeking opportunities to do so.

About you

• Ability to work as part of a team and well as individually.
• Willingness to support clients with full personal care, cooking and cleaning.
• Comfortable with driving the equivalent of an 8 seater van.
• Ability to think outside the box and adapt tasks to engage clients.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to use technology and have access to a smart phone.
• You have full Australian work rights.
