Job summary

Northcott is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Ipswich team in both permanent part-time and casual roles. You will help people with disability to participate in community activities and develop daily living skills.

The role involves personal care, mobility support, meal preparation, and following care plans with a person-centred approach. We encourage applicants with lived experience of disability and a passion for making a meaningful difference.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months’ disability sector experience. Applicants with lived experience of disability are strongly encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded.
• You have experience supporting children and young people with a range of individual support needs, including behaviours of concern, personal care, manual handling, and community access using service vehicles such as vans.
• You are confident working respectfully with families from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing social or economic disadvantage, while maintaining a calm, person-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care that promotes dignity and independence as required (e.g. showering, toileting, continence support).
• Support safe manual handling and mobility using hoists and other aids.
• Follow individual care plans to meet health needs such as epilepsy or wound care.
• Prepare meals and assist with mealtimes in line with mealtime management plans.

About The Role

Our programs assist young people to learn social skills, independent living skills including cooking and travel training, with plenty of focus on creativity and wellbeing too. You will be supporting participants to access to the community and engage with peers.

In this role, you will:

• Provide personal care that promotes dignity and independence as required (e.g. showering, toileting, continence support).
• Support safe manual handling and mobility using hoists and other aids.
• Follow individual care plans to meet health needs such as epilepsy or wound care.
• RequireExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Prepare meals and assist with mealtimes in line with mealtime management plans.
• Require a demonstrated commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of our customers
• Develop positive relationships with our customers and to support their individual care plans, as appropriate.
• Require experience supporting customers with psychosocial disability, Intellectual disability, physical disability, epilepsy and behaviours of concern.
