Job summary

The Salvation Army Cairns Corps is seeking a Street Chaplain Team Leader to oversee Cairns Street Chaplain services, collaborating with police, emergency services and community partners to enhance safety in the Cairns Safe Night Precinct. Reporting to the Corps Officer, this full-time role is based at Cairns Corps.

You will lead volunteers, coordinate outreach, and ensure services align with TSA’s mission and local community needs. A strong faith alignment and relevant experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Personal Christian faith aligned with TSA CSC values.
• Experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care or community services.
• Proven ability to lead and develop volunteer teams.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and administrative skills.
• National police check required.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) required.
• Current and valid Driver’s Licence.
• Willing to be flexible with work hours/days.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of Cairns Street Chaplain services within the Cairns Safe Night Precinct.
• Build partnerships with police, paramedics, council security and venue staff.
• Coordinate and support volunteers to deliver safe community engagement services.
• Foster positive outcomes that enhance community safety and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to identify and address community needs.
• Ensure services are delivered efficiently and in line with organisational objectives.
