Job summary

Brisbane City Council is seeking an Urban Planner to help deliver sustainable planning and development outcomes while providing high-quality customer service to a broad range of stakeholders.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will assess low to medium risk development applications and referrals, provide professional planning advice, and contribute to sound development outcomes in line with legislation and Council policy. This is a temporary full-time role across Development Services in Brisbane.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in development assessment or statutory planning.
• Knowledge of planning legislation, policies and instruments.
• Ability to assess development applications and provide sound recommendations.
• Experience preparing reports, correspondence and development conditions.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide professional advice and excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence planning outcomes.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities within deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assess low to medium risk development applications and referral requests.
• Provide professional planning advice and contribute to sound development outcomes.
• Deliver services across diverse planning functions including pre-lodgement, planning information and reviews.
