Job summary

The University of Sydney invites applications for a Development Director to lead major property development and capital projects across the university. Reporting to senior leadership, you will strategise, structure and deliver complex initiatives, maximise asset value, and drive governance, risk and financial management.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop and execute long‑term strategies for complex landholdings, including structuring and commercialisation of development opportunities.
• Experience with large capital works, infrastructure and development projects in a dispersed, complex environment.
• Advanced skills in consulting, strategy development, business case development and transformational project design.
• Expertise in compliance and risk management in a multi-stakeholder or built environment context.
• Extensive program management experience with time and project prioritisation to meet strict deadlines.
• Expertise in contract and procurement management including contract administration and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Maximise the value of university property and land assets.
• Provide leadership and people management across the department.
• Lead strategic development and governance for development initiatives.
• Oversee governance and approvals for projects.
• Manage commercial and financial aspects of programs.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee risk, compliance and WHS aspects.
• Support department leadership in the Director’s absence with governance and delivery oversight.
