Job summary
Rio Tinto is seeking a Superintendent Planning & Improvement to deliver operational excellence through integrated business planning, governance and continuous improvement. You will lead the Planning & Improvement team and collaborate with operational leaders to enhance performance and governance across a complex mining environment.
Reporting to the Safety & Performance Manager, this role emphasizes safety, mentorship and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience leading business planning, governance or performance management in mining or heavy industry.
- Experience delivering measurable operational outcomes through improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; translate insights into actions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Business Planning & Improvement team with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate annual and strategic business planning aligned with long-term objectives.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify performance opportunities and remove bottlenecks.
- Lead governance and assurance activities supporting plans and risk management.
- Drive improvement initiatives using SPS and other frameworks.
- Coach and mentor teams to strengthen planning, governance and performance outcomes.
- Coordinate assurance across multiple lines of defence.
- Monitor performance and implement actions for sustainable excellence.
