Job summary

The Dandelion Collective is a disability support provider based in Newcastle NSW seeking an experienced HR Generalist to lead strategic and hands-on HR across the organisation.

You will develop and implement HR strategies, manage performance and disciplinary processes, support employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, rostering, training, and ensure compliance with SCHADS Award, employment law and WHS. Strong communication and discretion are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist, ideally within community services, health, or related sectors.
• Deep expertise in SCHADS Award interpretation, employment laws, and WHS legislation.
• Demonstrated experience managing performance issues, investigations, and disciplinary processes.
• Skilled in managing employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, compliance, and offboarding.
• Strong consultation skills, with the ability to advise and guide senior leadership and managers.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new systems, policies, and organisational change.

Responsibilities

• Strategic involvement in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and initiatives.
• Lead performance management, investigations, and formal disciplinary processes including misconduct and grievance resolution.
• Provide timely, confidential advice on employee relations issues and manage ER cases from investigation through to resolution.
• Offer expert consultation to senior leadership on staffing, performance, and workforce planning.
• Support HR operations including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, payroll, rostering, and training.
• Ensure accurate, compliant staff documentation and record-keeping.
• Monitor, review, and update company policies and procedures in line with legislation.
• Maintain knowledge of SCHADS Award, employment laws, and WHS legislation and apply to HR practices.
• Analyse and report HR data and key metrics to inform decisions and compliance.
• Support workplace culture, wellbeing, and return-to-work programs and WHS initiatives.
