Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking an Asset Management Coordinator to lead the strategic planning, development and continuous improvement of the asset management framework for essential community infrastructure. You will steer the asset management team, align programs with long-term financial sustainability and capital investment planning, and work across the organisation to deliver service value.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in asset management, engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of strategic asset management lifecycle planning in a local government environment.
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and continuously improving asset management systems and practices.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience coordinating specialist staff and cross‑functional teams.
• High‑level capability in asset data management, analysis, and reporting, including the use of asset management systems and GIS.
• Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• A collaborative, outcomes‑focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within time and budget constraints.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council’s asset management system, policies, and plans.
• Coordinating asset management programs to support strategic, operational, and long-term financial planning.
• Maintaining accurate, reliable asset data to support governance, audit, reporting, and decision-making.
• Developing and managing forward capital investment, renewal, and maintenance programs.
• Preparing reports, budgets, business cases, and performance information for Council and management.
• Leading and supporting staff and coordinating asset management activities across the organisation.
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including the community, on asset management and service levels.
• Ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety, environmental, and organisational requirements.
