Byron Shire Council is seeking an Asset Engineer to help inspect assets, collect condition data and inform long-term planning. You will analyse performance, develop investment programs and support asset information systems to enable better decision-making across the Council’s infrastructure portfolio.

The role requires collaboration with operational teams, vendors and stakeholders, delivering data-driven insights while promoting safety and continuous improvement in a dynamic regional setting.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in asset inspections, condition assessment and infrastructure asset management.
• Knowledge of asset lifecycle planning, renewal strategies and asset management principles.
• Experience using asset management systems; GIS experience highly regarded.
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and deliver quality outcomes.
• Commitment to customer service, continuous improvement and safe work practices.
• A current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Undertake asset inspections and collect asset condition data in the field.
• Analyze asset performance and lifecycle information to support maintenance and renewal planning.
• Develop and update long-term asset management plans and investment programs.
• Support the management and continuous improvement of Council's asset information systems and asset data.
• Prepare business cases, reports and recommendations that inform strategic asset decisions.
• Assist with asset revaluations, budget planning and financial reporting.
• Support the use of GIS, modelling and asset management software to improve asset data.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams, consultants and stakeholders to deliver asset management initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
