Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is seeking a Manager Aboriginal Cultural Capability to lead nation-wide Aboriginal cultural capability initiatives within the First Nations Health team at St Vincent’s Public Hospital, Sydney. The role reports to the Executive Director and oversees a dedicated facilitator to advance workforce inclusion and cultural safety.

The position is permanent, full-time, based on-site in Darlinghurst, with travel across the catchment as needed and a strong focus on governance

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Hold a current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence and be willing to travel across the catchment

Responsibilities

• Report to the Executive Director First Nations Health and work closely with the L&D Manager to deliver Aboriginal cultural capability initiatives across the organisation
• Lead an Aboriginal Cultural Capability Facilitator, providing guidance and mentoring to enhance workforce capability, inclusion, and wellbeing
• Lead the design, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of cultural capability programs to strengthen Aboriginal cultural capability, cultural safety, responsiveness, and inclusivity across the organisation
• Build and maintain respectful partnerships with local Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to support culturally informed and responsive service delivery
• Influence organisational governance, policies, and service models to embed Aboriginal perspectives, align with NSW legislative priorities, and integrate Aboriginal-specific strategies into broader planning
• Produce high-quality reports, briefs, and submissions for senior leadership while developing targeted strategies to support training completion, program compliance, and continuous improvement across competing operational priorities
