Job summary

St Vincent's Hospital Sydney is seeking a Manager Aboriginal Cultural Capability to lead initiatives across the organisation, delivering and evaluating programs that enhance Aboriginal cultural safety and inclusivity. You will mentor a facilitator, build community partnerships, and influence governance to embed Aboriginal perspectives in planning and delivery.

The role is full-time, based at First Nations Health, St Vincent’s Public Hospital in Sydney, with travel across catchment as needed.

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with a current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the catchment.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification with a proven track record leading teams, creating and implementing workforce development initiatives, and embedding Aboriginal perspectives into organisational culture.
• Skilled in designing, managing, and delivering cultural capability programs, with knowledge of relevant government frameworks and Aboriginal policies.
• Demonstrated high‑level interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and communication skills with the ability to centre Aboriginal voices and influence change.
• Proven ability to engage and collaborate with Aboriginal communities, leadership teams, internal stakeholders, and external organisations.
• A supportive leader committed to mentoring staff and fostering an inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lead an Aboriginal Cultural Capability Facilitator and provide guidance to enhance workforce capability, inclusion, and wellbeing.
• Deliver Aboriginal cultural capability initiatives across the organisation.
• Design, deliver, evaluate, and report on cultural capability programs to strengthen cultural safety and inclusivity.
• Build partnerships with local Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to support culturally informed service delivery.
• Influence governance, policies, and service models to embed Aboriginal perspectives and align with priorities.
• Produce high‑quality reports and briefs for senior leadership and support program compliance and improvement.
