Responsibilities

• Pick and pack orders for dispatch with accuracy.
• Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts to maintain inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of warehouse and yard.
• Identify/damage discrepancies and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Load/unload trucks with materials and secure loads.
• Support the warehouse team with additional duties as required.

Steel Hub is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Storeperson / Forklift Operator to join our team at our Spring Creek, QLD site. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our warehousing and distribution operations. As a Storeperson / Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of steel and rural products within our warehouse environment. This position is essential to maintaining our high standards of inventory management and ensuring that operations run smoothly and safely. You will work on-site at our Spring Creek location.

What you'll be doing

• Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move, stack, and store materials throughout the warehouse and yard
• Receiving and processing incoming shipments, including checking goods against documentation
• Organising and arranging materials in designated storage areas to maximise space utilisation and ensure easy access
• Picking and packing orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and appropriate handling of materials
• Conducting regular stock checks and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse and yard
• Identifying and reporting damaged goods, discrepancies, and maintenance issues promptly
• Following all health and safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment for all team members
• Loading and unloading trucks with materials, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution
• Supporting the warehouse team with additional duties as required to meet operational demands

What we're looking for

• Valid forklift licence or certification, demonstrating competency in operating material handling equipment safely and effectively
• Previous experience working in a warehouse, distribution centre, or similar logistics environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory, stock checks, and order picking
• Ability to work efficiently and meet productivity targets whilst maintaining safety standards
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and carrying materials of varying weights
• Reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to consistent attendance
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving workplace issues
• Preferred: Experience in the steel or livestock industry; knowledge of health and safety regulations in warehousing operations
