Job summary

Jobtailor in Australia is seeking a Retail Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service using the CHARM model and promote in-store promotions. You will educate customers on products, assist with stock and promotions, and support daily store operations including POS, pricing and loyalty activities.

The role requires 1–2 years in retail, strong English, ability to work flexible shifts, and basic computer skills. This position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 1–2 years retail experience preferred.
• Fluent in English; additional languages an asset.
• Flexible to work nights, Saturdays, Sundays & public holidays.
• Basic computer skills in Word/Excel and email.
• Able to operate a retail POS system.
• Able to lift 15 kg daily; ladder work as needed.
• High School Certificate preferred.

• Educate consumers about products, in-store promotions and events


• Support the store team in achieving company goals and initiatives


• Adhere to Asset Protection policies and procedures, including shortage prevention, inventory control and compliance procedures


• Collaborate with Store Management to improve personal key performance indicators through sales-driven techniques


• Support daily retail operations, including POS system management, stock replenishment, pricing and markdown processes, loyalty program promotion, cleanliness and recovery standards


• Assist across consumer service, product knowledge and placement, visual presentation and stock room management


• Contribute to an enjoyable team environment by sharing suggestions, ideas and concerns

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older


• Minimum 1 to 2 years of working experience, preferably in retail


• Fluent in English; proficiency of other language(s) is an advantage


• Flexible to work rotational shifts, including nights, Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays


• Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Email


• Able to operate a retail Point of Sale system


• Ability to climb and descend ladders carrying merchandise daily


• Ability to lift 15kg or more with assistance daily


• Senior Secondary School year 12 / High School Certificate preferred
