Job summary

Client 1 in Canberra is seeking a Storage Systems Administrator to support a highly secure Defence environment. You will oversee enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery platforms, ensuring security, availability, and optimal performance across projects and BAU operations.

You will collaborate with technical teams to implement storage installations, patches, upgrades, and testing, develop operational procedures and reports, and engage stakeholders on new capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience managing enterprise storage, backup, and DR environments.
• Strong knowledge of storage performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Experience planning upgrades and maintenance windows.
• Ability to create operational procedures and technical reports.
• Experience in secure Defence or Government environments is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Storage Systems Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking a Storage Systems Administrator to support a highly secure Defence environment in Canberra.

This role will see you responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery platforms. You will work closely with technical teams to ensure storage infrastructure remains secure, available, and performing at an optimal level while supporting both project delivery and business-as-usual operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support and advice across storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments.
• Support the installation, configuration, patching, upgrade, and testing of ICT infrastructure, operating systems, virtualisation platforms, and enterprise applications.
• Perform quality assurance activities relating to technical solution design and documentation.
• Engage with stakeholders regarding new technology capabilities and enhancements.
• Support and maintain enterprise storage platforms, including vendor engagement and support management.
• Contribute to data protection strategies and implementation activities.
• Deliver skills transfer and technical knowledge sharing across the wider team.
• Undertake BAU support activities as required.

Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments.
• Strong understanding of storage management principles, performance monitoring, and capacity management.
• Experience planning and implementing new storage installations, upgrades, and scheduled maintenance activities.
• Ability to create operational procedures, technical reports, and recommendations for improvement.
• Experience working within secure Defence or Government environments is highly regarded.

Desired Experience

• Dell storage platform experience, including Isilon, PowerScale, and Object Store technologies.
• Experience with Commvault products will be highly regarded.
