Job summary

Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas is seeking a part-time Steward to join the Kitchen team, reporting to the Stewarding Manager. The role focuses on cleaning, sanitising, and HACCP-compliant operations across kitchen areas and food venues.

Ideal candidates will have a high school certificate, good presentation and English fluency, and be able to work under pressure on a 7-day rotating roster. Marriott International umbrella applies.

Qualifications

• High school certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Good presentation, communication skills and fluency in English.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferable.
• Ability to work well under pressure and on a 7-day rotating roster.
• Knowledge of HACCP principles.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitising all areas of the kitchen and food venues, ensuring hygiene standards (HACCP) are met.
• Polish chafing dishes for banquets, BBQ functions and prepare carving stations as required.
• Set-up food venues in line with standard requirements for buffets, BBQ functions etc.
• Ensuring compliance with HACCP principles and procedures at all times.

This iconic Resort is situated between the renowned Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical North Queensland. The resort comprises of 295 guest rooms, suites and villas.

Department

The position of Steward works within the Kitchen team and reports directly to the Stewarding Manager.

Preferred applicants will require valid working rights to work in Australia. Sponsorship will not be available for this position

To be successful in this position you will need to possess the following minimum requirements:

• High school certificate or equivalent qualification
• Good presentation, communication skills and a fluency in English
• Previous experience in a similar role (Preferable)
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work flexibility on a 7 day rotating roster
• Knowledge of and ability to follow HACCP principles
