Job summary

Ventia is hiring Station Officers to join the Fire and Rescue operations at Fleet Base West, WA. The roles involve responding to emergencies on vessels, aircraft, structures and bushfires, under Station Management guidance.

You will maintain readiness, perform admin duties, comply with safety rules, and take part in ongoing training. Applicants must be Australian citizens, hold the Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) or equivalent, and meet security and medical clearances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 months experience as Ventia Firefighter Level 1-4
• PUA40319 Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) or equivalent
• Australian Citizenship required
• Be able to pass Australian Federal Police check
• CASA Basic Class 2 pre-employment medical may be required

Ventia has over 35 years’ experience working with Defence providing Firefighting Services. With a new contract awarded in 2024 to provide 6 +2 +2 years, now is the time to join Ventia’s Fire Services

About The Roles

These exciting positions will see you work with a team of Firefighters who are responsible for responding to emergencies including incidents involving vessels at harbour, aviation, structural fire and bushfire. You will perform duties as directed by Station Management including but not limited to:

• Maintaining operational readiness in accordance with relevant procedures.
• Ensuring that all relevant administrative duties associated with operational duties are performed.
• Complying with operational health and safety requirements.
• Undertaking training and drills as required to maintain operational readiness.

You Must

• Meet the criteria and hold the qualifications listed above as for Qualified Firefighters
• Have a minimum of 60 months experience as a Ventia Firefighter Level 1,2,3 & 4, or in the Fire & Rescue Service
• Have and supply evidence of the following qualification:
  • PUA40319 Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) or equivalent.

Special Conditions

These positions require the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1 – Secret).

Therefore, Applicants Must

• Be an Australian Citizen
• Be able to pass an Australian Federal Police check
• Successfully complete a CASA Basic Class 2 pre‑employment medical
