Job summary

Ventia is seeking Watch Room Operator positions in Bandiana, VIC for our Rescue & Fire Fighting services. This role can be a career path into a Firefighter or the first step into joining Emergency Services and Defence industries.

Mandatory qualifications include PUAFIR and PUATEA/PUACOM family certificates; applicants must be Australian citizens eligible for Defence Security Clearance up to NVL1. A strong team focus is essential; prior communications room experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• PUAFIR210 or equivalent qualification to prevent injury.
• PUATEA001/PUATEA002 family qualifications showing ability to work in a team and autonomously.
• PUACOM001 Communication in the workplace.
• Defence clearance eligibility up to NVL1; Australian citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational readiness in accordance with Ventia policies.
• Respond to incidents and support the Incident Controller at the station.
• Assist the Officer-in-Charge with administrative duties for the Fire Station.
• Participate in the Fire Station training and development plan.

Job description

Our Rescue & Fire Fighting (RFF) services currently extend from stations in WA, SA, VIC, NSW and QLD. Due to the evolving nature of this contract, we are currently have multiple Watchroom Operator positions available in our Fire and Rescue operations at Bandiana. This role can be a career as a Watch Room operator working within the Emergency Services and Defence Industry or the first step into a career as a Firefighter.

Responsibilities

• To maintain an effective operational readiness in accordance with the relevant policies and guidelines of Ventia.
• Respond fire crews to incidents as required at the applicable fire station and maintain support and communications where required to the Incident Controller.
• Assist the OIC of the Fire Station to ensure that all relevant administrative duties associated with the operational aspect of the fire station are performed.
• Participate in the Fire Station training and development plan.

Highly Desirable

• Previous experience in some form of communications room.

Other Requirements

• A strong focus on team orientation
• Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.
