Job summary

Queensland Rail in Townsville is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technician for a permanent full-time role at the Electronic Repair Centre. You will install, maintain and repair telecommunications and electronic equipment and report on performance to ensure safe operation.

The role suits those with bench repair experience and knowledge of telemetry and remote monitoring systems. Travel across regional Queensland is required, with occasional on-call, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Sound skill in installation, maintenance and fault rectification of telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Previous experience in bench repair desirable.
  • Be available for call out/stand by duties, overtime and higher-grade relief as required.
  • Work away from home station and travel throughout Queensland as required.
  • Must have the flexibility to work some overtime and weekends when required.

  • Install, maintain and repair telecommunication and electronic equipment to component level.
  • Ensure all work complies with WHS requirements.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Report on actual work performed and condition irregularities against the maintenance program.

At Queensland Rail, your career growth really matters. Based in Townsville, our Electronic Repair Centre is looking for an experienced Telecommunications Technician to join their team on a permanent full-time basis in Townsville. This role will require you to carry out the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications and electronic equipment and report on the performance and condition of the telecommunication assets to ensure safe and effective operation.

This role will be best suited to a candidate with proven experience in bench repair with knowledge of and experience in telemetry and remote monitoring equipment. Staff performing this role are frequently part of a team from the Electronic Repair Centre and Install and Maintenance sections co-operating with each other to perform field maintenance.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Install, maintain and repair telecommunication and electronic equipment to component level in accordance with predefined work programs.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and legislative policies.
  • Maintain records and associated documentation
  • Report on actual work performed and condition irregularities against the scheduled maintenance program

This role would be best suited to those with proven experience in bench repair with knowledge and experience in radio transmission systems and remote monitoring equipment. A considerable amount of work is conducted out in the field, so you must be able to travel away and work in a variety of locations across regional Queensland.

To be considered for this position you will need:
