Job summary

Queensland Rail in Brisbane’s Bowen Hills is seeking an Operational Reliability Analyst to join the Operations Analyst team. You will cleanse data entered by our Train Monitoring team to ensure readiness for trend analysis and reporting against contractual requirements.

The role requires strong quantitative skills, Power BI and Excel expertise, and the ability to translate operational information into concise reports for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role.
  • High level knowledge of Power BI and MS Excel and database systems.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Examine the prior day of operations, classifying each incident that occurred in accordance with an established classification hierarchy.
  • Examine the data captured for each train on the day of operations, ensuring the information is complete and correct in accordance with the minimum requirements of the systems being used for data capture, analysis, and reporting purposes.
  • Extract data from core systems to be input to custom databases used for data storage and reporting purposes.
  • Use data stored across multiple sources to generate agreed reporting requirements using Power BI and MS Excel in most instances.
  • Assist with the design of implementation of custom reports for internal and external audiences using appropriate data management tools including but not limited to Power BI and MS Excel.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure incidents are classified correctly.
  • Respond to ad-hoc information requests from media, ministerial offices, contractual partners and/or senior management.

Queensland Rail has a fixed term opportunity for an Operational Reliability Analyst to join our Operations Analyst team who cleanse the data entered in by our Train Monitoring team to ensure that it is ready for trend analysis and reporting against our internal and external contractual requirements. The role requires a high level of quantitative skills and the ability to analyse operational information with a view to reporting the most relevant, concise details to various audiences.

About the team

Our Operational Improvement & Reliability team sits within our SEQ Operations division and plays an integral role supporting the daily operations of our SEQ passenger services (‘Citytrain’). Our team’s responsibilities range from capturing network incidents and unplanned schedule changes, to analysing and reporting on our performance to both internal and external stakeholders. We also provide data insights that inform our leaders’ data-driven decisions to increase our operational efficiencies while delivering world class services to our customers.

About you
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role. Ideally in the rail industry, front line service or customer service exposed role.
  • High level knowledge of Power BI and MS Excel and database systems with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Creativity in problem solving.
  • Ability to take initiative and be solutions focused.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable to change – no two days are the same.
  • Degree or relevant qualifications in related field desirable.
