Job summary

Legend Hire in Melbourne is seeking a Branch Manager for Shoring Hire to lead our Civil Rents operation. You will own the branch P&L, defend rates, and drive utilization of the shoring fleet while maintaining safety and compliance.

You will manage a lean team of three, nurture top customer relationships, and win larger engineered shoring projects with our engineers. A strong pricing mindset and White Card are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the hire of shoring equipment in a branch, depot, sales, operations or technical role.
• Working knowledge of trench shields and boxes, slide rail, manhole boxes, hydraulic struts and frames.
• Familiarity with AS 4744.1 and trench and excavation safety.
• Proven P&L, budget or margin accountability for a branch, depot or territory.
• Experience leading a team, including recruiting and managing performance.
• Strong commercial pricing skills: you set rates, defend rates and manage discount.
• Current driver licence and White Card.

• Recruit, lead and develop the branch team, with weekly 1:1s and clear KPIs for every role
• Keep the fleet compliant, tested and presentable, and build the case for what to buy, redeploy or sell
• Lead safety, Chain of Responsibility and load restraint at the branch

Shoring hire experience is essential for this role.

Legend Hire is a family-owned specialty rental business operating in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Shoring and propping come first, with traffic and earthmoving alongside. Our customers are civil, utility and construction contractors, from Tier 1 through to smaller operators.

We take execution risk out of utility and construction projects: early engagement, in-house engineers who find a better way, and gear on site on time. Our customer promise is simple: one call, the right solution, on site, on time, invoiced right.

The opportunity

We are backing our Melbourne Civil Rents branch in Spotswood with a new aluminium shoring fleet, with a focus on larger specialist projects. We need a Branch Manager who knows shoring hire inside out and wants to run the branch like it is their own business.

You will report directly to the CEO and lead a lean team of three: Account Manager, Hire Controller and Yard Team Lead.

About you

Minimum 3 years of experience in the hire of shoring equipment, in a branch, depot, sales, operations or technical role. Applications without shoring hire experience will not progress.

Working knowledge of trench shields and boxes, slide rail, manhole boxes, hydraulic struts and frames, and where each applies

Familiarity with AS 4744.1 and trench and excavation safety

Proven P&L, budget or margin accountability for a branch, depot or territory

Experience leading a team, including recruiting and managing performance

Strong commercial pricing skills: you set rates, defend rates and manage discount

Current driver licence and White Card

Highly regarded:

Larger engineered shoring projects: slide rail, multi-stage and long-duration civil works

An existing Melbourne network across plumbing, drainage, pipelaying, utilities and civil contractors

Exposure to earthmoving or traffic hire

Experience with Syrinx, HubSpot or a similar ERP and CRM

Experience running an EOS-style operating rhythm (L10s, scorecards, quarterly rocks)
