Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead hands-on engineering in the Complex Investigations group. You will shape technical direction, design scalable full-stack solutions, and drive secure, reliable deployments across multi-team programs.

You will mentor engineers, advocate DevSecOps, and contribute to the design of modern, cloud-native architectures while delivering robust, scalable software for enterprise-grade investigations.

Qualifications

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software using two or more languages such as Java, Golang, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, C# or equivalent.
• Experience building modern web applications using frontend frameworks and tests (React, Angular, Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience designing microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems with concurrency and fault tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution and software design, making architectural decisions balancing business outcomes, quality, security, and maintainability.
• Design and build modern web applications with frontend frameworks and engineering practices.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Establish API contracts and integration patterns across applications and platforms.
• Build secure, observable, and resilient cloud-native software with automated CI/CD and DevSecOps.
