Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to lead BB Companion platform architecture and secure AWS delivery. You will drive design, governance and cross-squad collaboration to elevate reliability, security and efficiency.

You will mentor engineers, enable scalable automation and help shape the AI-enabled customer experiences in the CommBank app for business customers, with strong emphasis on governance and responsible AI controls.

Qualifications

• Staff-level leadership across architecture, platform strategy and mentoring.
• Hands-on AWS platform engineering with Kubernetes/EKS, containers and cost control.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, scripting, CI/CD, GitOps and DevSecOps.
• Strong system design across APIs, integrations, observability and reliable operations.
• Experience embedding security, privacy, risk controls and vulnerability remediation.
• Clear communication and stakeholder alignment across product, engineering, data, risk and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Own BB Companion platform architecture, infrastructure and automation across squads.
• Lead technical direction, design reviews and cross-team integration.
• Enable secure AWS delivery through CI/CD, GitOps and IaC.
• Improve reliability, observability and resilience with SLOs and capacity planning.
• Improve developer experience through self-service and golden paths.
• Embed security, privacy, data governance and responsible AI controls.
• Mentor engineers and grow platform capability across squads.
