Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and operation of secure, cloud-native platforms within the Document Retention and Archiving Crew. You’ll shape the enterprise platform, mentor engineers and advance engineering practices across AWS, Kubernetes, Python and AI-enabled technologies.

You will drive architecture, code, automation and testing, embedding secure-by-design principles and observability while guiding teams through GitOps workflows and scalable deployments.

Qualifications

Experience with cloud-native platforms and secure software design.
Proficiency in Python, Java or .NET with strong testing practices.
Hands-on AWS and Kubernetes experience, preferably Amazon EKS.
Practical AI-enabled solutions and ML integration patterns.
Experience with CI/CD, GitOps and IaC tooling.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, deployment and operation of secure cloud-native software.
Shape architecture across AWS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
Develop software, automation and testing.
Integrate AI capabilities into the platform responsibly.
Embed observability, monitoring and secure-by-design practices.
Mentor engineers and influence standards across squads.
